Finally – the 22nd Nippon Connection Film Festival returns to the screens from May 24 to 29, 2022! After two online festivals, we will once again show around 100 exciting new releases of Japanese cinema in Frankfurt am Main, in addition to over 50 workshops, lectures, concerts, performances and many culinary offers. This year’s thematic focus STORIES OF YOUTH – COMING OF AGE IN JAPAN, sponsored by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, looks at the challenges young people in Japan face on their way to adulthood. The NIPPON HONOR AWARD will be presented to renowned actor Masatoshi NAGASE.
The festival will take place at the festival centers Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and NAXOS, as well as at ten other venues in Frankfurt – new additions are the Eldorado Arthouse Kino and the Saalbau Bornheim.
Following the on-site festival, part of the film program will be shown on our VOD platform Watch.NipponConnection.com from May 30 to June 6, 2022 under the title NIPPON CONNECTION ON DEMAND. We will reveal the online program on May 29.
